Subject: AES/EBU problem on MOTU 1224

My setup consists of 2x 24i, 1x 24i/o and 1x 1224.
I clock to a Rosendahl Nanosync.
I just got a Mytek stereo A/D converter to use for critical stuff like vocals and acoustic instruments. It outputs AES/EBU and SPDIFF.

The only digital connection in my setup is the AES/EBU on the 1224.
However it doesn't seem to work right. I get random clicks and pops - making me think it's a word clock problem.
I have tried cloking to the AES/EBU signal, to a BNC word input from the Mytek, to a BNC word input from my Nanosync and to MOTU's internal clock. Same problem with all of them.

I tried connecting other equipment to the AES/EBU - a Kurzweil K2600 and my Tascam DAT machine, same problem.
MOTU's tech support just claims it's a problem with the other equipment, which is hard to buy - it would all have to be broken, and at least the Mytek works perfectly in my friends studio connected same way.

Any suggestions?
